• Friendship Festival 2010 ^Popular Early July 2010

The 24th annual Friendship Festival is an international celebration of the culture and heritage shared by Canada and the USA. Events held in Fort Erie, ON and Buffalo, NY include free concerts and a spectacular fireworks display, rated one of the top 10 in Canada, on July 1st highlighting the two national holidays.
Crafts, children's entertainment, Live musical entertainment, heritage and cultural displays, a midway and more.
On July 4th at Riverside Park in Buffalo the fireworks showcase marking Independence Day takes place at Dusk.

• 142nd Annual Niagara South Plowing Match Saturday, October 3, 2009

Niagara South Plowmen's Association presents the 142nd Annual Plowing Match, the oldest match of it's kind in Ontario.
Come watch competitors challenge themselves and the field in different classes depending on skills and equipment. There will also be a tractor driving skills contest and all drivers interested in taking part are welcome to register for the competititon.

• 6th Annual Crystal Beach 5K Run/Walk Saturday, October 10, 2009

The race begins at the corner of Ridgeway Rd. and Erie. Rd. and proceeds up Erie Rd. toward the Buffalo Canoe Club and back to the start. It is a beautiful fast course, with great age group awards and door prizes and an excellent post race party at the Palmwood Restaurant. If you are a competitive runner, it is a chance to post a PR as the course is flat and certified. If you are a walker it is a chance to start or continue your health/fitness routine.

• Battle Of Ridgeway - Fenian Raids June 12, 13, 2010

A memorable two day weekend featuring realistic re-enactments of the Battle of Ridgeway and Fenian Raid which took place in June 1866.

Volunteers will converge on the grounds of Old Fort Erie to engage in 2 battles wearing period costume both days at 1:30pm, rain or shine.

Along with the planned skirmishes, the weekend will feature lectures, living history camps occupied by volunteers in period costume, military demonstrations and more.

2010 marks the 150th anniversary of The Queen's Own Rifles and a dedication will be held to commemorate the event. Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 1pm on Saturday June 12th.

Bring a lawn chair for a front row seat, but please leave your pets at home.
